My name is Perin Brown Burns. I am the Founder of She. I am 63, retired, divorced, and the mother of two adult children. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia two years ago after living most of my life in New York. I attended the University of South Carolina-Columbia and received my BS in Psychology. Thirty-four years later, I obtained my Master of Public Administration degree from the Metropolitan College of NY. For thirty- three years, I was employed as a law enforcement officer/revocation specialist and social worker for both the city and state of New York.

I was a change agent for many people throughout my career. I helped several victims of child abuse and neglect and assisted formally incarcerated individuals to become law-abiding citizens in society. I continue to serve the community in advocacy and community service projects as an active member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc. and as a life member of the National Council of Negro Women Inc.

After thirty years of marriage, my husband and I divorced. I was retired, my children were living on their own, and I was facing an unrecognizable future. I struggled for a long time, grieving someone who was no longer my husband and a family dynamic that wouldn’t be the same. I was 60, alone, and starting life over. I didn’t know what I was going to do or how I was going to do it. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be a divorcee.

With God’s help and the ministry of Change Church, I started to accept my situation and realized I could stand on my own and be just fine. I got to know “ME” and was excited about the woman I was becoming.

As a single mature woman, finding a relatable community of women to meet new friends, acquaintances, develop professional relationships, or to inquire about the dating scene has been difficult. Fast -forward, She was born. I came up with the idea, where we, youthful, modern, mature ladies can get together, support one another, share conversations, travel, participate in outings, hold events, develop friendships, network, and mingle. I want She, to become a vibrant community that embraces her “solo”  while living her best life.
